Lebanon in Crisis – Forgotten Women

Lebanon in Crisis

The situation in Southern Lebanon has become dire as the war in Gaza intensifies, with the region now facing severe instability. In just a few weeks, over 2,000 lives have been lost, including a heartbreaking number of women and children. Thousands more have been injured, and the Lebanese government estimates that approximately 2 million individuals have been displaced due to the escalating conflict.

“We left our homes with only the clothes on our backs. The day we left, an air strike struck our village, killed our neighbours and destroyed our house.”

Many families are now being led by women, who are grappling with the added responsibility of providing for their children amidst the chaos. This crisis underscores the devastating toll the war is taking on vulnerable populations, especially women and children who are bearing the brunt of both physical and emotional trauma. Humanitarian aid and support are urgently needed to address the growing crisis in both Lebanon and Gaza. The displacement of women and children has left many in shock and despair.

One woman shared, “I live in constant fear,” while another cried, “We have lost everything.”

What We Know So Far
– On September 23 and 24, more than 250 Israeli warplanes dropped about 2,000 missiles on Lebanon.
– Within weeks, strikes have killed over 2000 individuals, many of which are women and children.
– The UNHCR estimates that 35% of displaced persons are children, and 52% are women and girls.

Our Response
As in all emergency zones, our approach remains consistent: delivering safe aid to women by women. We are committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of women, especially during disasters, wars, or famines, as they are often the most vulnerable. Women are 14 times more likely to die in emergencies due to inadequate access to aid. Across the globe, women are being exploited, the Forgotten Women team has witnessed women having to sacrifice their dignity for basic necessities like food.

We are delivering safe aid to women by women on the ground, right now survival packs are needed.
