Turkey-Syria earthquake: Emergency Appeal – Forgotten Women

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has struck Syria and Turkey, affecting an area of 280 miles from Adana to Diyarbakir and 185 miles from Malatya to Hatay. Sadly, deaths have been reported as far as 60 miles away from the epicentre, and the death toll is expected to rise. In response, the Turkish President has declared a state of emergency for at least three months.

Rescue teams are working tirelessly to save those trapped in the rubble, including babies pulled from the debris. The Syrian people have already suffered years of war and poverty, and this earthquake will only add to their hardship. The death toll continues to climb, with experts unable to predict the final number. Despite the challenging conditions, including temperatures reaching -6 degrees, rescuers are using their bare hands to search for survivors and give the deceased proper burials.

The impact of this disaster will be felt for months and years to come. Children will be left without parents, parents will grieve for lost children, and rescuers and volunteers will carry the weight of the horrific scenes they witnessed. The scars left by this tragedy are indescribable and will last a lifetime.

As the Turkish and Syrian people come together, we can also show our support by donating to the relief effort. Our team is on the ground, providing support to those in need. Together, we can help save lives.”
