After losing her right hand in an accident as a child, Menal watched door after door close. Jobs, opportunities, even marriage proposals fell away. Too often, the world saw her missing hand long before it saw her potential and treated her as less because of it.
Slowly, the weight of it pulled her under. She sank into depression, sleeping away her days to escape a life that had begun to feel unbearable. With no work and no way forward, tomorrow held nothing she could count on.

“It’s like a dream come true. I used to sleep during the day to escape life. Now I wake up early to open my shop.”
Menal now runs a small roadside shop in Bangladesh, open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving locals and travellers passing through. In just five days, she made £60 in profit. More than she once believed possible. Beside her stands her elderly father, proud and no longer afraid of tomorrow. “This has changed our lives,” he told us quietly. And it has.
