Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 July 2026

Registered charity no. 1169466

These terms apply when you use forgottenwomen.org or make a donation to us. Forgotten Women is a UK-registered charity (charity number 1169466). By using this site or donating through it, you agree to the terms below.

If anything here isn’t clear, email dpo@forgottenwomen.org.

01

Using this site

This site is here to share our work and take donations. Please don’t:

  • copy, scrape, or reuse our content without permission
  • impersonate us or misrepresent your connection to us
  • try to disrupt the site, our donation system, or our servers

Everything on this site — text, photos, logos, design — belongs to Forgotten Women or is used under licence. You can’t reproduce it elsewhere without asking us first.

02

Donations

A few things worth being clear about before you give.

A donation is a donation, not a purchase

It isn’t a contract for goods or services, so standard consumer cancellation rights (like the 14-day “cooling off” period for online purchases) don’t apply in the same way. If you’ve made a genuine mistake — duplicate donation, wrong amount — contact us within 28 days and we’ll put it right.

Gift Aid

If you tick the Gift Aid box, you’re confirming to HMRC that you’re a UK taxpayer and understand you’re making a formal declaration. If your tax status changes, just let us know.

Zakat and Sadaqah

If you designate a donation this way, we ring-fence and use it accordingly.

Recurring donations

You can cancel a regular donation at any time by contacting us or through your donation platform account. We won’t make that harder than signing up was.

Payment processing

Payments are handled by our payment provider(s), not by us directly. We don’t store your full card details, and we’re not responsible for delays or errors on the processor’s end. We don’t guarantee a payment will always go through — if one fails or is declined, we’ll let you know if we can.

How we use your donation

The large majority goes directly to our programmes; the rest covers essential running and fundraising costs. Full figures are in our published accounts.

03

Fundraising standards

We follow the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice in everything we do.

If anything about how we’ve fundraised from you doesn’t sit right, please tell us — we take it seriously and will look into it properly.

04

If you send us content

If you submit a comment, story, or message for us to use or publish, you’re giving us permission to use it in our work (online and in print), and confirming it’s yours to give.

05

Links to other sites

We link to third parties — our payment provider, event platforms, social media. We’re not responsible for their content, terms, or how they handle your data once you leave our site.

06

Keeping the site running

We work hard to keep this site accurate, secure, and running smoothly. Like any website, it may occasionally have errors or downtime, and to the extent the law allows, we can’t be held liable for loss arising from that.

07

Concerns about us

If something about our work, conduct, or a decision we’ve made doesn’t feel right to you, email dpo@forgottenwomen.org. We’ll look into it properly and get back to you.

08

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update.

09

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.

10
